John 14:15-24 NIV
To obey God is to show Him that we love Him. When we love God, we find ourselves wanting to obey Him. But how do we show Him that we love Him? Of course we can say that we love Him but is it true that our actions speak louder than words?
Also, if we say that we love God, how do we measure our love? God has given us many different commands and Jesus points that out when he states “Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me.” The Disciples would understand that obedience is in direct spiritual relation to love from their teachings from Deuteronomy 8:11, 10:12 and 13:3-4.
Loving the Lord is shown by obedience and doing that without a full heart is weak at best, even through we show our support by doing Godly things, Going to Church, tithing, and support mission work are important but that is no substitute for obeying God’s commands.
Reading and understanding the Scripture ensures that we understand what God’s commands are. That includes Scripture from the Old Testament and the New Testament. Stay obedient and faithful and show God your love always.
