Daily Devotion – Think Positively to get results

Scripture Philippians 4:13, Psalms 9:1-2, Matthew 18:20

The world is filled with so much negativity and it seems to grow daily. War, famine, death, destruction, sickness, politics, and many more. With this negativity on the scales being measured, the weight it bears on one side must be countered with positivity through every outlet on the other. That’s the only way to tip the scales back. That positivity comes from knowing Jesus and having a relationship with God the Father. But is that enough? How will my personal relationship with Jesus help the world? Just one person? Philippians 4:13 NIV – “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”

As we see in the scripture, our relationship with Christ is perfect as He was perfect. But we also find that to love Christ, it requires us to worship Him. Maybe worship can impact the world? Now we are getting somewhere! If we look at the Scripture, the chapters are full of worship and inspiration. So much positivity. Psalms 9:1-2 NIV “I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds. I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing the praises of your name, O Most High.”

As we look at that verse, if we were to tell everyone of the world of God’s wonderful deeds that surly would sew positive thinking. What about getting in a group to talk about God’s wonders? Matthew 18:20 NIV states “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” Negative usually breads negative and can poison the mind. However positive is also very contagious. The more of it around you, the better it is. There are little things in the world that are examples. Usually a smile will get you a smile back. Have you ever been in a drive through and someone in front of you pay for your meal? What about something as simple as holding the door for the person behind you who in turn does the same for the person behind them.

Positivity is a choice. You can choose to always look for the negative in something or as the old adage goes, “when you have lemons, make lemonade.” Again, it is a choice. Enjoying positivity in a group is awesome. Put down your sword and pick up the Scripture.
